For the hearty, there are stairways that will take you to an observation platform. There is also a cable car option. Also, the Downtown area just a bit north of Old Montreal has many museums and endless number of bars, clubs and restaurants. We lost the Expos but still have the very popular Als football finalists and the equally popular Impact soccer champs.

How in the world could anyone find little to do or see in Montreal? The architecture, the restaurants, the museums, Mont Royal, the Biodome, the list is endless. As for Quebec City days max since it is smaller and the sights can be easily visited in a shorter amount of time. I do agree that the landscape between Montreal and QC is not all that but since I live in the NYC area I appreciate the farmland, mountains and streams that you see. Please allow yourself more than one day in Montreal or you will miss a great experience.
I must agree with the last posters, there is a lot more to do in Montreal than in Quebec city.
In Montreal you have the old montreal, downtown, the olympic stadium, the biodome, the botanical garden, the insectarium, plenty of museums, the casino, the La Ronde theme park lots of streets with clubs and restaurants only and the list geos on. In Quebec city you do not have many streets with that much activity.
