Attractive intro to a great and very beautiful city I spent several days in Barcelona in April with some friends.

We stayed at the W which David Hoffmann recommends. It is indeed a beautiful modern hotel with some luxurious amenities. The out of town excursion to Montserrat where the Benedictine monks have a retreat amidst massive tourist invasions on a daily basis was definitely worth the hassle thanks to the beautiful views from the mountain. It was fairly typical of similar markets we had seen elsewhere in Spain and Portugal. What was a bit more interesting or at least striking was the incredible crowds cruising Las Ramblas. We were cruising Las Ramblas on our way to Juicy Jones a vegan restaurant located a bit off the main tourist drag.

Juicy Jones was tie-dye groovy, and the food was pretty darn good.
