I love this book it was really good :. Dec 21, Autumn rated it it was amazing Shelves: , childrens-reviews. So I picked this book up for A from the library as she is now into barbies and I wanted to see if she would enjoy this book even though it is a bit longer than our normal read. I was very surprised she sat and listened to the story and was really into the barbies and how they were saving the prince.
Corinne wants to become a musketeer but sadly she can not but when her and her friends save the prince well their dreams will come true. This is a step two reading book and that means more words but it is easy to read or so I thought. I liked how the barbies are more than just girls they can do something else besides look pretty. We haven't watched the movie that goes with this but to me it was really good read to read to A. Four girls changing the "norm" to the betterment of all, this book shows young girls that they are worth more and can do more for themselves. The message of confidence in this book is stronger than any I've yet to find in a Disney film where princesses rely heavily on the stronger, smarter, more heroic male love interest for validation and conflict resolution.
Anyone can be a hero, if they try, and if they set their heart to it. So, Barbie is out to prove that she can be a musketeer. However, the palace inhabitants disagree, and make her a maid. But, after she and the other maids save the prince at a party, they confess to one another that they always wanted to be musketeers. They decide to practice doing so, and show everyone that they can do anything they put their hearts and minds to. Sep 30, Rosa Cline rated it liked it Shelves: kids. My granddaughter and I haven't watched the movie so can't say one way or another if it went with the movie or not.
But the story flowed in places and other places it was just kind of 'out there'.
The girls are determined to be Musketeers regardless of what others think so they all practice and in the end save the day and are the 'four' Musketeers May 30, Khadijah R. Many years ago, I owned and read this repetitively. I really liked it. I watched the movie a few years after having this book. It's great for very young fans of Barbie who are entering or have just begun grade school.
Even though this simple book can't capture nearly a half of what the movie does, it's still a neat little tale about 4 strong, young heroines. For a Barbie book and a DVD novelization , this one isn't half bad. The story is a nice one, showing the "girl power" of the Barbie dolls, and showing them as something other than beautiful.
Having said that, my ten year old was a little disappointed upon hearing me read it to my five year old that it didn't have more romance!! Barbie did not actually appear in the story. I know it is for beginning readers, but the short sentences could have been better connected.
They should have come up with a more original story than shoving Corinne and company into Dumas' drama. Barbie and her friends try to figure out a way to become a musketeer. They are hired to keep the castle clean and figure out that someone is out to harm the prince. They train to get ready for the day they need to rescue the prince. My daughter loves this story.
Jan 20, Emily rated it liked it Shelves: barbie , kids-books. This is my least favorite novel of the Barbie movies. It is not told very well and everything is fake and naively done - so much that I feel a child could even tell. Oh well, younger kids will maybe enjoy it. It was interesting and I have read it many times. There is a girl named Corinne and in the end she becomes a musketeer along with three other girls. Mar 09, Shanthi added it.
But not only that, Disney really takes the biscuit by actually reusing the same actor for the main henchman role. Follow Us Pinterest Facebook. Have a Very Peppa Christmas! Corinne agreed so long as he promised to be patient and gentle, and so her lessons began. Good old Tim Curry chews up the scenery perfectly with his big eyes, red flowing attire and devilish goatee doing his best to try and beat Alan Rickman's dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham. But there are those who oppose these powerful forces, who dedicate their lives to truth honor and freedom.
